Cowden Syndrome

Cowden syndrome is a rare inherited condition associated with multiple non-cancerous tumors (called hamartomas) and increased risk for certain cancers.

Features of the condition

• breast cancer
• uterine cancer
• thyroid cancer
• benign tumors of the breast, uterus, and thyroid
• macrocephaly (large head size)
• skin findings (trichellimomas, papillomatous papules)

Risk Factors

• Family or personal history of the features above
• Relative with a diagnosis of Cowden syndrome
