Endocrine Tumors

An endocrine tumor is a growth that affects the parts of the body that secrete hormones. Because of this, the tumor itself can produce hormones and cause serious illness. Some examples of types of endocrine tumors are adrenal gland tumors, carcinoid tumors, islet cell tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, paragangliomas, pheochromocytomas, parathyroid tumors, pituitary gland tumors, and thyroid cancer. While most endocrine tumors do not run in the family, a portion of them are hereditary.
