Hemochromatosis

Hereditary hemochromatosis (HHC) is a condition that results in high iron levels due to the body absorbing too much iron from a person’s diet. Hemochromatosis can be medically managed.  However, if left untreated it can lead to damage of healthy organs and tissue.

Symptoms

  • Abdominal pain
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Weight loss
  • Skin problems
  • Fever
  • Cirrhosis

Risk Factors

  • Family history of hemochromatosis
  • Male gender
  • Northern European ethnicity
  • Genetic test results
